Lucy Cotter
Lucy Cotter's practice encompasses experimental and art critical writing, curating, and performance; engaging with art as a form of knowledge production and a site for cultural and political transformation. Recent curatorial projects include Undoing Language: Early Performance Works by Brian O? Doherty at The Kitchen, New York (2021), and Turnstones, a year-long series of exhibitions as Curator in Residence at Oregon Center for Contemporary Art, Portland, USA (2021-22). She was curator of the Dutch Pavilion, 57th Venice Biennale (2017), and co-curator of Here as the Centre of the World in six cities worldwide (2008-2010). Widely published in books, catalogues, and journals including Flash Art, Frieze, Artforum, Mousse Magazine and Circa, she is the author-editor of Reclaiming Artistic Research (2019). Cotter holds a PhD in Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam and was the inaugural director of the MA Artistic Research at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (2010-2015). She currently guests lectures in Europe and the US.
