Laura McAtackney is an associate professor in the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies at Aarhus University in Denmark and docent in Contemporary Historical Archaeology at Oulu University in Finland. Her research involves exploring the material remains of political imprisonment, colonialism and urban segregation, often through the lens of gender and/or class, in Ireland and the Caribbean.
