Eileen Humphreys

Eileen Humphreys is a post-doctoral researcher in the Institute for the Study of Knowledge in Society at the University of Limerick. Dr Humphreys is a sociologist who has worked extensively, both theoretically and empirically, on the notion of social capital. Much of her research has been on social inequality in Limerick, including 'How are our kids?': Experiences and needs of children and families in Limerick city (with McCafferty and Higgins, 2012), Health inequalities and ageing in the community (with deBurca, 2008), and Evaluation of social capital in Limerick city and environs (with Dineen, 2006). Her research has been funded by Limerick Regeneration Agencies, Atlantic Philanthropies, and the European Union, among others.
