Danny Dorling is Halford Mackinder Professor of Geography at The University of Oxford. He is the author of many works on social inequality, including The real world atlas (with Newman and Barford, 2008), The grim reaper's road map: An atlas of mortality in Britain (with Shaw, Davey Smith, and Thomas, 2008) and The 32 stops: Inequality on the Central Line (2013). He has been a pioneer in developing novel ways to represent geographical data, as described in his book on The visualization of social spatial structure (2012). He is a regular in the British media and his awards include the Back Award from the Royal Geographical Society, in recognition of his applied research, as well as The Geographical Association Award for Excellence in Leading Geography.
