Ronan Foley

Ronan Foley is a health geographer at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth where he is the Course Leader for the MSc in GIS and Remote Sensing. His research has been funded by: the Health Research Board; the Environmental Protection Agency; the Centre for Cross-Border Studies; the Combat Poverty Agency; the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government; Ordnance Survey Ireland; and the NHS Executive, London. He has published on issues relating to access to health care and on the healing role of landscape, including his book, Healing waters: Therapeutic landscapes in historic and contemporary Ireland (2010). Ronan's work on therapeutic landscapes has both historical and modern dimensions and he has a particular interest in the history of holy wells and of spa towns.
